Welcome to Obesity Atlas

What is Obesity Atlas?

The World Health Organization predicts there will be 2.3 billion overweight adults in the world by 2015 and more than 700 million of them will be obese.

Routinely-collected data can provide important information for health policy. The major strength of these routine data is their high coverage of the population, which overcomes weaknesses in measurement and recording error that are largely random.

Obesity Atlas is a web application public health tool to analyse obesiy in your locality. This includes statistics, charts & graphs, geographical thematic maps, and full obesity profiles.

Who can use Obesity Atlas?

Obesity Atlas and it's development is funded through the Health Intelligence for Greater Manchester Obesity project (HIGMO) and at present can only be used by the Greater Manchester Primary Care Trusts.

If you are not from one of the ten Greater Manchester Primary Care Trusts, please e-mail Paul Jarvis (pjarvis@manchester.ac.uk) as it still might be possible for you to make use of the services and tools available.
